What we collect and why
Written to be read, not to be skipped.
What this site collects
Only what you type into a form. There are three: the newsletter signup, the volunteer form, and the contact form. Each one tells you what it is collecting at the point you fill it in.
The newsletter form collects your email address and, if you choose to give it, your community. The volunteer form collects your name, email, optionally your phone number, your community, how you would like to help, and anything you write in the message fields. The contact form collects your name, email, community and your message.
What it does not collect
No advertising trackers, no third-party marketing pixels, and no cookies for advertising purposes. If analytics are enabled on this site they are cookieless and aggregate; no individual visitor is identified or profiled.
Why we collect it
To reply to you, to organise volunteers, and to send campaign updates you have asked for. That is the entire list.
Who sees it
The campaign team, and the service providers used to send email and store the list. It is never sold, rented or traded. It is not shared with other campaigns or with commercial organisations.
It is not shared with CentreBC either. The campaign keeps its own list. The only exception to any of this is a disclosure required by law or by Elections BC reporting obligations, which no organisation can contract out of.
Where it is stored
Some service providers store data outside Canada, which means it can be subject to the laws of the country where it is held. If you would rather not have your details stored this way, email the campaign instead of using the forms.
How long it is kept
Volunteer and contact details are kept for the duration of the campaign and deleted within twelve months of the election, except where a retention period is required by law. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your choices
Every campaign email has an unsubscribe link that works. You can ask to see what the campaign holds about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, by emailing privacy@danwoodbc.ca. Requests are actioned within thirty days.
You can also withdraw your consent at any time. Tell us and the campaign stops collecting, using and sharing your information, apart from anything the law requires us to keep. When you ask what we hold, we will also tell you what it has been used for and who it has been disclosed to.
Children
This site is not directed at children and the campaign does not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen.
Changes
If this notice changes materially, the change will be announced on the email list rather than quietly published here.
